I can’t believe it’s October already! You wouldn’t have any idea based on the dreary warm rain we’ve had in New York lately, but I’ve still been out trying to enjoy the fall as much as possible. Currently I’m craving chunky knits, faux furs, and cashmere everything. My current October goals are finding a perfect mustard yellow dress that can transition between seasons and perfecting an autumn themed smokey eye.
The weather in Brooklyn was super confusing yesterday. One minute it was brisk and rainy, and the next the sun was shining. Jason and I decided to take advantage in the break from the rain and go on a quick walk around the neighborhood. I’ve been obsessing over this Joe Fresh shirt since I bought it, and love pairing it with a lighter pink velvet pant, and as always I threw on my trusty denim jacket to enjoy a fall afternoon.
It may be the beginning of August, but I’m counting down the days until I can start shopping for fall clothes. I love fall fashion. There is something about the fall that makes me yearn for rich colors, luxurious materials, and layers upon layers. I love that I can still get away with dresses and shorts (as long as I have tights underneath), and it’s finally jacket weather again!
I know, I’m weird. I could literally live somewhere like Alaska, I just do better in the cold. So, while it’s still 90+ degrees outside, I’ll sit in my air conditioned office counting the days until the leaves change and fall from the trees.
Can you believe it’s almost August? I know that I haven’t spent near enough time in the water, and after watching this video on Vintage Living Magazine, I’m dying to get to a pool or the ocean. Hopefully I’ll be able to do a couple more days in Fire Island before the season is over. There is something so wonderful about vintage pinup style while by the pool. I love the idea of leaving all my electronics behind, sitting under an oversized hat, and thumbing through a wonderful book.
How are you planning on spending your dog days of Summer? Are you getting enough time near the water this year?
Another lovely mirror pic. I put this together on Sunday when I went to the Met with my friend Kelsi. We checked out the Schiaparelli & Prada: Impossible Conversations exhibit, then walked around, and enjoyed perfect weather on the Upper East Side. Have you seen the exhibit yet? It’s breathtaking!
I’m loving this combo of print and bright colors. And after buying and returning what seems like a million pairs (it was 3) of nude heels, I finally found these bad boys on 6pm.com for $20! The heel to platform ratio is perfect, the toe is just round enough, and they’re actually comfortable, I’m in love!
What do you think, would you put prints and brights together, or is it too trendy?
So sorry I haven’t posted in a while! Work has been crazy (which is always a good thing), but 16 hour days in the sweltering heat don’t lend themselves to looking stylish.
But now that that’s over, I’ve decided to get back into the groove of it, and while I haven’t had a chance to get outside and take actual pictures, I’ve been taking plenty of those super attractive, well-lit “in the mirror” pictures.
I wore this out to dinner with some friends on Saturday. I picked up the top on sale at Bloomingdale’s recently, and paired it with (what else?) my trusty 7 for All Mankind black skinny jeans. The top is actually two layers, the bottom layer is sequins with a coral chiffon layer overtop, I also paired it with these sequin wedges which were my college graduation shoes. This necklace is an amazing $5 vintage find from Montana, the black and white beads are actually tiny dice.
What do you think? Would you wear two different sequin pieces in one outfit?
I, like every other girl out there, dreams of being on stage at one time or another. Of taking the mic in my hands, and completely controlling the crowd while sweat drips down my face, I run around like a crazy person, and I adorn leather, vintage tees, and probably no pants.* But between my lack of a musical ear, and the fact that my voice resembles a dying cat, my life as a rockstar is just a no go.

Wouldn’t it be great to be one of those total “I don’t give a f*ck” rockstar type girls? Part of me just thinks it would be fun, to live in this fantasy world where you eschew all responsibility, party until dawn, and not know where your next paycheck comes from.
On the other hand, I like clean showers, I like healthy foods, and I’m too big of a control freak to touch drugs, but hey, there’s still something so bad ass about it all that it makes me a teensy bit envious. What about you? Who’s your favorite rockstar glam model?
*Because seriously, rock stars just don’t like to wear pants.
**I don’t care what you say, I love this woman’s crazy ways.
