I can’t believe it’s October already! You wouldn’t have any idea based on the dreary warm rain we’ve had in New York lately, but I’ve still been out trying to enjoy the fall as much as possible. Currently I’m craving chunky knits, faux furs, and cashmere everything. My current October goals are finding a perfect mustard yellow dress that can transition between seasons and perfecting an autumn themed smokey eye.
Fall is by far my favorite season for dressing. I absolutely love the deep, rich colors, layering jackets over sweaters over tops, and gold and brown hued accessories. But, let’s be honest, shopping for every season can get awfully expensive. I think if we all had it our way, we’d have a new wardrobe on point with every trend per season, but since that isn’t possible, I always love to pick up a few key pieces that I can work into the clothes I already own. I’m absolutely swooning over this oxblood peplum top from Topshop and these heels from LC Lauren Conrad (wouldn’t they be great with a pair of tweed socks?).
Everything on this list is less than $50, and let’s be honest, you can’t really beat that.
Fall makeup is such a different beast than summer. In summer, it’s waterproof mascara, and sunscreen and you’re good to go, but fall makes me step up my beauty ballgame quite a bit. Year after year, fall has me reaching for dark nailpolishes, rich, saturated lipsticks, and deep musky scents.
As the weather turns colder, and my skin inevitably gets drier and my hair frizzier, I turn to super moisturizing products to combat the drop in temperatures. I’ve been using John Frieda Secret Weapon for 10 years, and the Yes to Tomatoes brand has always been a favorite when I’m trying to stick with natural face products.
While the last few days of August play out, I’ll be dreaming of deep nailpolishes, bold lips, and smudgy eyes. Now if only the New York humidity would cooperate….
…more camping trips.
…more running, yoga, and rock climbing.
…more late night conversations about books, movies, music.
…more vegan/vegetarian meals.
…more trees, rivers, lakes, and mountains.
Just a few things I’m wishing for on this muggy Friday. Have a good weekend!
Things have gotten pretty heavy here the past couple of days. I’m sorry about that, I’ve been dealing with a lot of inner turmoil and stress and a lot of potential big changes to my life that aren’t exactly pleasant. Currently focusing on taking things one day at a time!
Anyhoo! With each passing day I literally cannot wait for fall. I keep thinking about getting my fall clothes out from the suitcase under my bed, and how excited I am to break out the layers. Fall, can you get here soon please? Whenever the weather takes a dip, I generally tend to ramp up the accessories in my life- scarves, gloves, hats, you name it and I want it all.
It may be the beginning of August, but I’m counting down the days until I can start shopping for fall clothes. I love fall fashion. There is something about the fall that makes me yearn for rich colors, luxurious materials, and layers upon layers. I love that I can still get away with dresses and shorts (as long as I have tights underneath), and it’s finally jacket weather again!
I know, I’m weird. I could literally live somewhere like Alaska, I just do better in the cold. So, while it’s still 90+ degrees outside, I’ll sit in my air conditioned office counting the days until the leaves change and fall from the trees.
Can you believe that it’s almost July? We are already over half finished with 2012, and it seems to just be flying by!
June got a bit out of hand with the shopping. Nothing too drastic, I just don’t think I’ve shopped that much in a while! In July, I plan to tone it back, get back on budget, and continue the process of getting rid of the old and adding a few new key pieces. I read that you’re supposed to spend between 2% and 8% of your income on clothing, and considering I’m smack dab in the middle with 4% on average, that doesn’t leave a lot of room for error.
Here are a few of the things I’m absolutely loving right now (via my Pinterest), and I’m hoping to snag a few of these items without spending more than $100 this month. Do you think I can do it? What ones are your favorite? What are your July picks?
The Tribal Skirt– I am loving the patterned tribal skirt with a solid top look right now. I’m hoping to find one with blues, teals, and pinks since I already have a number of tops in those colors.
Lace Details- My Pinterest Style Board is full of lace details. And while I’d love to scoop up everything I could, I’m thinking I might stick to a seeking out a basic neutral colored lace shell.
Retailers to Try: Dorothy Perkins, eBay, Vintage Shops, TJ Maxx
The Nude Pump– I originally bought these Colin Stuart pumps, but deemed them too uncomfortable to walk in. I’m loving these reasonably priced options, but I know that buying a classic like this could definitely break the bank!
Retailers to Try: Asos, Michael Antonio, DSW
